Career Summary Robert Ahlstrom has had a long career in business innovation, playing a key role in the development of the world’s first on-line typesetting system; an automated bakery ordering system;
and a labor negotiations simulator. Later as a senior IT manager, he was responsible for the first scanning system installed in the State of Minnesota; the development and installations of one of the first supply chain systems, utilizing database technology, for a major food retailer; and establishing the first direct debit network for New England supermarkets.
Experience
During his career Robert as served as the top IT executive for Red Owl Stores, Jewel Food Stores, First National Supermarkets, and Marsh Supermarkets. He has also served in other senior IT management positions with SuperValu and American Stores.
He has consulted with major companies including AT&T, Radio Shack, NCR, SuperValu, and American Stores; has been COO and minority owner of an application software company; and teaches a master's level course on “Managing IT Services” for St. Scholastica College in Duluth.
He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree with distinction from the University of Minnesota, a MS in Mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has recently passed the Certified Information Systems Auditor examination and is an accredited Executive Associate of the Institute for Independent Business.
