Chris Hayman
    Career Summary

    Chris Hayman is a retail improvement
    specialist with over 27 years of
    experience in business strategy
    development and process improvement
in the retail, wholesale and CPG industries.  His
specific areas of expertise include:  merchandising,
marketing, operations and end-to-end supply chain
management.  He has experience in many retail and
wholesale industry segments including grocery,
discount, wholesale club, drug, convenience, specialty,
home improvement and department stores.

Experience

During his career, Chris has led consulting teams on
business strategy and planning, merchandising, end-
to-end supply chain and IT strategy projects for
several global retailers across multiple industry
sectors. His clients include The Kroger Companies, J.C.
Penney, Total Wine & More, Army and Air Force
Exchange Service, Hickory Farms, Pearle Vision, Circuit
City, Men’s Warehouse, Alberto Culver and Dole Foods.

His consulting assignments have included:

  • Developing a retail merchandising strategy and  
    operational framework to enable a $4.5     billion
    worldwide producer and marketer of fresh fruit
    and flowers to operate leased floral departments
    in food stores.

  • Providing business change management support
    for a multi-year retail merchandising     
    transformation of an $11 billion electronics
    retailer, which included a major business     
    process and organizational redesign of
    merchandising and inventory business areas.
     
  • Developing the functional requirements for a
    centralized pharmacy system for a northwest
    grocery store chain.  Establishing operational and
    merchandising guidelines for individual
    pharmacies and HBC departments to improve
    sales and department gross margins.

  • Leading the development of a global procurement
    strategy for a $1.4 billion CPG manufacturer,
    which transformed the company from a location
    centric purchasing model to a global procurement
    enterprise model.  As a result of this activity,     
    potential savings in excess of $1.5 million was
    identified by consolidating current global supplier
    base and leveraging existing supplier contracts.

During his career in the retail industry, Chris has
served in executive roles with Mrs. Marshall’s Foods
and Standard Drug Company, as well as management
positions with consulting companies, such as
Answerthink, Bearing Point and Infinitive Consulting.
