Marv Imus
    Career Summary
    Marv Imus is senior industry consultant
    specializing in in-store technology and
    card-based frequent shopper marketing
    programs, best known as Loyalty
Marketing. He was the former owner and President of
Paw Paw Shopping Center in Paw Paw, MI that was
sold to Spartan Stores, Inc. in 2007.

Experience

Paw Paw Shopping Center was a single store operation
started in 1947 by Mr. Imus’ father.  He joined the
family business in 1975 as VP of Information and rose
to the position of President. He has been a member of
WIRTF (Wholesaler/Independent Retailer Task Force)
committee for Efficient Consumer Response (ECR), a
member of Food Distributor International’s (FDI)
Category Management Certification Development
team, the chairman of Spartan Stores’ Technology
Advisory Board, as well as part of Spartan’s Model
Store Re-engineering process.

In 1989, he co-developed a card based/frequent
shopper marketing program with his wholesaler and
started capturing transactions for analysis. In 1996 he
developed an in-store data warehouse of customer
specific purchases and used the data to “one to one”
market to his customers through direct mail and via
his web site.

Mr. Imus is a frequent speaker at Food Marketing
Institute (FMI), FDI, National Grocers Association
(NGA), Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA), and
Global Electronic Marketing (GEMCON) industry
conferences on data-based marketing, customer
specific marketing, and category management.

He has as a degree from Western Michigan University
in Economics and is actively involved with WMU’s Food
& CPG Marketing Program as a member of the Industry
Advisory Board.
