J. Russell Robinson
- Career Summary
Russ Robinson has held executive level & CIO
positions in the retail industry. He has
expertise in strategic planning, project
management, and effectively communicating IT
objectives to enterprise executive management.
Experience
Russ' retail experience began at Ralphs Grocery as Vice
President of Information Systems where he had the
responsibility for the development and maintenance of all store
and back-office systems. As an outsourcing consultant he
managed the IT systems and development staff at Vons. Russ,
as the CIO of Randalls, developed and executed a strategic plan
aimed at improving IT systems stability, reliability, and mission
critical cost cutting measures. He has also held various
consulting positions with retailers engaged in E-commerce.
In addition to expertise in retail applications areas, Russ is
expert in people & project management. He is expert in team
building and developed a Rapid Applications Development
methodology including the use of Joint Applications
Development (JAD), as described in his book Radical Systems
Development. In keeping with his primary beliefs regarding
effective IT communication, he developed ProjectsPM (www.
projectspm.com), a Web-based system to define, schedule and
track IT projects. The system allows IT & enterprise users
access to up-to-the-minute project status online & in real time.
